PORTEÑO MURGA EXPERIENCE
CITY MURGAS: THE TOUR
Rhythm, neighborhood, and identity. Welcome to the Buenos Aires that beats in the streets, the one you don't just look at, you dance. We start in San Telmo and delve into the neighborhoods where popular culture is still alive, to see a Buenos Aires murga in action from the inside, not as a distant spectator but as part of the experience.
The murga is one of the city's most powerful expressions, a combination of song, dance, percussion, theater, and poetry. Its heart is the bass drum with cymbals, the pulse that sets the rhythm of the neighborhood. But it's not just a show. Murgas tell stories, convey social commentary, preserve neighborhood memory, and build collective identity. Every lyric and every movement has meaning.
Aesthetics also speak volumes. The costumes aren't just outfits; they're skin. Sparkles, embroidery, and colors express what each member of the murga feels. Throughout the year, the murgas rehearse, perform, and participate in charitable activities. In February, during the Buenos Aires Carnival, the streets are transformed, and the city is filled with music, dance, and energy.
The experience is complete as it should be: choripán, wine, conversation, and the neighborhood. Simple and authentic. The tour lasts three to four hours, takes place on Fridays and Saturdays depending on the performance schedule, and is conducted in small groups of four to eight people.
It's not a tourist attraction, it's living culture. An in-depth tour through the neighborhoods, meeting their people and their history. Maximum safety and maximum authenticity. We're locals.
You don't come to watch, you come to experience it.
BE LOCAL.
